Since we just finished a related to everyone’s number one fear, I wanted to point you to an excellent resource I found could be helpful to you as you develop your own speaking skills.
I got an email from TJ Walker over at with a pointer to his new show, “Bully Pulpits: Speaking Secrets of World Famous Leaders.” I got to preview the first 5 of these shows, and I’m impressed.
First off, great production quality. These videos look professionally done; no awkward sound or amateur titles.
Second the episodes are really short, only a couple minutes or so, so they’re really good for “get in, get out” tips that don’t take your whole day but over time can really add a lot of tools to your speaking arsenal.
Third, the episodes bring into focus a specific trait or characteristic of good public speaking by studying how a famous person’s style exemplifies that trait using real video footage of the person in action. This can be very effective for those of you visual learners out there, and its just plain fun to go back and re-examine these people we grew up watching and hearing about with an eye to learning how to make ourselves better speakers.
