If you remember the days before GPS devices told us every turn to make while driving, you may recall actually using a large paper map. Maps were great to plot out a trip before you started driving a car. And maps were helpful if you occasionally had to glance down at them while at a stop light. But if you kept your eyes focused on a map the entire time you were driving you would likely drive head on into another car and kill yourself or at least drive everyone else crazy in the car with you—it’s the same with trying to keep your eyes on your notes the whole time when giving a presentation.
A few other notes about notes:
Always bring at least 2 copies.
Never use hand-written notes.
Limit your notes to one page.
Don’t read your notes out loud at the same time you are reading. Instead, glance down, scoop up the words, then look up, then speak.
Always remember to relax. You don’t have to worry about forgetting anything. Your notes are right in front of you.

Mastering General Speaking Tips
A huge part of being a great speaker that is rarely addressed is simply having the guts to decide that you don’t want to sound boring and ordinary like most of your peers.
You never know who is in your audience. Don’t say anything you wouldn’t want to be quoted in a newspaper or major trade publication.
There are few careers that are harmed by being a great speaker.
Remember, your speech is not THAT important to anyone in your audience.
It is not overly promotional to tell people how to contact you if they want more information or to ask more questions.
Be ready to give out a web site address and/or phone number.
Do something out of the ordinary.
After you’ve learned all the rules, occasionally break them.
If you don’t believe what I say, test it out on people.
Conducting Yourself In The Television Interview
Don’t curse on the set, even during commercials.
Be likeable.
Don’t get angry unless that was part of your planned message.
Really, really listen to the interviewer.
To be great on TV, you must not only look like you are having the time of your life, but you must actually have the time of your life.
Don't react to the energy level of your host. Focus on the energy level you want and planned.
If you are smeared or attacked, smile, and shake your head.
