Constantly edit and improve your material after every rehearsal.
If you don’t rehearse, you are telling your audience that an hour of your time is more important than the collective 100 hours of their time.
You wouldn’t send out a letter to an important client that hadn’t been spellchecked, edited and reviewed, so don’t be so cavalier with your spoken word.
You will feel silly rehearsing the first time.
Rehearsing alone is better than not rehearsing at all but not nearly as good as rehearsing in front of other people.
Moving your Body during an Interview
Don’t put your hands in your pockets.
Try not to rest your hands on a table or arm rest - keep them relaxed and ready to move.
Don’t shift your weight back and forth from one foot to another. You’ll seem nervous.
Keep moving your head throughout the interview, even move your body a little.

In a televised debate on CNN on February 21, Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, the two Democrats left in race for the presidency, were exchanging verbal jabs because the former First Lady accused the latter of copying one of his speeches from Deval Patrick, the governor of Massachusetts and currently the Obama campaign’s national co-chair.
The big question is this: Is it ok to “steal” or “borrow” from another speech when you know it could make yours better?
This is not a first for politics. John McCain is using the phrase “My friends” throughout speeches, which was taken from Ronald Reagan. Hillary Clinton has used phrases and ideas used in Bill Clinton’s speeches… who were influenced by JFK speeches.
So what do you do?
Here are some thoughts:
1) Think about how much you are taking. Are you looking to borrow a word or a phrase, or is it 10 minutes of dialogue? Maybe you just want to borrow a story that would help illustrate a point?
2) See if that little voice goes off in your head. Is it saying plagiarism? Is it telling you that this is a homage to someone you respect?
3) Listen to that little voice. This is a very person decision. I can’t create your own personal ethics. Some would say that a sentence or an idea on it’s own is fair game. I would probably agree. Maybe you want to use a story you once hear or a great joke. You may want to credit them before telling the story. That would make it ok to use.
