Thoughts and feelings from the 80th Academy Awards show

Jon Stewart was hosting. Comedians are very often great presenters. What is it that they have that you could tap into. The comedian is interesting, compelling, and funny. Being funning is certainly something made much easier with writers. If you don’t have a team of writers, take notice of some of the other things Jon Stewart did well:

  • He didn’t start with a stale introduction.
  • He commented on his audience instead of talking about himself.
  • He appeared not to take himself too seriously.
  • He was smiling even though he might have been nervous. As long as no one knows he’s nervous, it counts as not being nervous. … -Presenters reading off the teleprompter
  • This reaffirms what we all think about people READING speeches… boooring. Jack Nicholson actually did the best job at reading off the teleprompter. He didn’t give it the squinty, frozen look that so many of his colleagues did. He looked around the room and into the eyes of the audience … while peeking back at the script in the teleprompter.

Make PowerPoint Text Stand Out
Chances are you have sat through a PowerPoint presentation that was just too wordy.
